Engineered Floors is making giant leaps in the carpet industry. The company has recently announced yet another significant growth in their line of business.

Engineered Floors is now extending its base in the south Whitfield County. Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority’s executive director, Carl Campbell, said that the plant is specifically situated in the far south of Whitfield County just south of Gaz Road on Old Dixie Highway.


The company’s newest carpet and tile manufacturing plant in the Whitfield County has successfully marked its initial phase development. The carpet tile plant has began construction in 2017. And, in January 2018 the new facility was opened. It has a total area of over 520,000 square feet and is designed with potential expansion in mind.


In a press release, James Leslie, Engineered Floors executive vice president of sales and marketing, said that the new Whitfield County plant is a sign of Engineered Floors’ continued growth and signifies the beginning of the new era for the company.


As someone who has years of extensive in the floorcovering industry, Dave Foster has called the carpet tile industry as an enormously popular product. In an interview he said that at this point in time, the carpet tile is probably pushing half of the carpet industry already. This only goes to show that the popularity of the modular carpet tile industry has enjoyed remarkable growth and expansion over the recent years. Moreover, Foster believes that Engineered Floors are saying that it is likely going to reach an ever greater percentage in the near future.

A New Milestone

Engineered Floors has gone far since it was first established. Over the years the company has enjoyed growth at an amazing rate. It now has a total of 12 manufacturing plants. Not just a sign of Engineered Floors continued expansion, the latest facility they have in the Whitfield County serves as the company’s answer to their need of a new and modernized facility to support its goals in making innovations in the carpet tile industry.

About Engineered Floors

The history of Engineered Floors beginnings can be traced back from its foundation almost 10 years ago, back in 2009. The company was founded by the esteemed veteran in the carpet industry, Robert E. "Bob" Shaw. Aside from being Engineered Floor’s co–founder, Shaw has also served as the head of Shaw Industries for several years. In 2001, the Shaw Industries was sold to Berkshire Hathaway owned by Warren Buffet. By September 2006, Shaw has left his post in the Shaw Industries.

From the moment Engineered Floors was founded by Shaw, the company has since experienced major growths and developments. The company now has around 2,800 employees and operates in a 650,000-square-foot facility in the city of Calhoun. It also has another 800,000-square-foot facility which is located on South Dug Gap Road in the city of Dalton. A few years back, Engineered Floors has acquired J+J Flooring Group based in Dalton and today the company is run by Engineered Floors as a separate division.
