Decide the plank orientation
The floor normally looks best if installed parallel to incoming light.
However, hallways and very long, narrow rooms look best if the planks are installed along
the length of the room, regardless of the direction of the light.
Start by measuring the room
Measure the width of the room ( ie., at right angles to the planned orientation of
the planks). If the planks don't match the width of the room exactly, you will have to saw
the planks in the final row lengthwise. If the final row would be narrower than 2 inches,
the result will be more attractive if you saw the planks in both the first and the last
rows.
Then lay out the underlayment material
Start by laying the polyethylene film ( for concrete only ), where
necessary, remembering to leave 8-inch overlaps. Then lay the pergo Underlayment foam.
Now follow these 9 easy steps
(1) Always make sure the planks are undamaged before they are laid. Saw
to the length and do a trial layout of the first 2 rows of planks. This allows you to make
sure the important first 2 rows are completely strait before you start. It will also show
how many spacers you will need and were to put them. The grooved edge of the plank should
be closest to the wall.

(2) Measure, mark and cut off the final plank. If you are
using a hand saw, saw with the decorative side of the plank up. If you are using a
circular saw, the decorative side should face down. Press the joints on the short sides
together using the Pergo Pull Bar. Put spacers against the walls on both the short and the
long sides.
(3) Start the next row with the rest of the cut plank from the first row.
If less than 8 inches long, take a new plank instead, and cut it in the middle. Then
continue with another plank. Now you are ready for the next few steps.

(4) Remember to leave 8 inches between the end joints in adjoining rows. (5) Now lay out the rest of the planks in the second row. Use the Pergo tapping Block to gently push the planks together. (6) When you've installed these two rows, you will be able to see if the wall is strait. If not, trace the contour of the wall on the first row of planks and saw them accordingly.
Now you can start to glue!
(7) Glue in this order: Start by gluing the first plank in the second row to the plank in the corner. This gives stability to the crucial first two rows. Then glue the second plank in the first row. Make sure to fill the entire groove with Pergo Glue. Next glue the second plank in the second row. With glue applied, tap the planks carefully together with the tapping block and a hammer. Then, if needed, press them together with the pull bar. Continue laying the floor, working from left to right, laying plank after plank, row after row.

(8) Pergo is installed as a "floating " floor. This means it must NOT be nailed or glued too the underlying floor. Glue should only be used in the grooves. Use plenty of Pergo glue, filling the entire groove on both the short and the long side of each plank. Do not use any glue on the long side of the planks in the first row along the starting wall. This is very important for a perfect end result.Glue should be squeezed out when the planks are tapped together. Wipe away the excess immediately with a damp cloth. (9) The last row of planks often has to be sawed lengthwise to fit a narrower space. lay the last plank on top of and edge-to-edge with the plank in the next to last row. trace the wall contour of the last plank using a scrap piece of plank widthwise. Saw. (10) Press the sawed plank into place. Finish by putting in the spacers. Let the glue dry for 12 hours before using the floor or removing the spacers. Any remaining glue residue can be removed by damp mopping or a little acetone on a cloth.
Put just the right finishing touches on your room. It's easy because Pergo Original is more than just flooring. It's a complete flooring system. All the pieces and processes in the Pergo System work together to simplify installation, create a unified design and provide optimum performance for many years.
